Celebrating Winter Wizard’s Birthday
On November 18, Father Frost, the main New Year’s wizard, celebrates his birthday — a symbolic start of real Russian winter. Kalachinsk turned the date into a full-blown fairytale carnival: costumed characters paraded through the town, children laughed through indoor games, and the birthday boy received plenty of gifts and cheers.

The celebration kicks off at Central Square
At noon, Father Frost and Snow Maidens from all around gather by the clock
Kids are both spectators and active participants in the event

A circle dance will help keep everyone warm — though the day is unusually mild for November in Siberia
Just one more minute, and the main Father Frost will give the signal to start the parade

The cozy hall of the Cultural Center is already decorated for the first of the winter celebration series
While the parade participants get ready for the runway show, kids take photos in the lobby
Adults are also eager to speed up the arrival of the festive atmosphere
And now, the indoor parade kicks off!
Nine teams are competing today for the title of the best New Year’s duo
They have to captivate the kids, present a gift to the main Father Frost, and lead a flashmob dance
First up are representatives of the district youth affairs committee
A circle dance around the Christmas tree — a classic favorite at any children’s party
Next, Father Frost and Snow Maiden from Lagushino village take the stage
They also manage to get the young audience pumped up
The Culture Workers’ Union team adds a cartoon character to the traditional duo
The mix of originality and humor gets a warm response from the audience
Of course, this New Year’s wizard also invites the kids to join the games
What could be more exciting than running around under a “snowy blanket”?

The Sorochinsky House of Culture has prepared a truly memorable act
Their Snow Maiden is about to host a New Year’s relay race
Two teams are handed small spoons and large oranges
To the music, they must carry the fruit a short distance without dropping them

They have prepared lots of surprises, especially for the little ones
And here comes the youngest Snow Maiden of the day!
It’s the team from the Kalachinsk children’s vocal ensemble “Semechki”
Stylish, trendy, youthful — they know exactly how to win over the older kids
