About the Project

Meet Dmitry Roudakov, the creator of FestRider — a photojournalist from Omsk, a Russian PhD degree owner, and someone who loves capturing festival vibes. He has also co-authored the “After Classes” educational project and the online Omsk City Guide.

— Feel free to share your thoughts on my stories published here, or just to chat about event tourism!

Long‑term goal: a photo encyclopedia of major Russian events!

Why photos, not video?

Only the most telling frames capture the climax of a story.

01

A still image freezes emotions at their peak.

02

Viewers can choose their own comfortable pace.

03

Photos let you notice details you’d miss in motion.

04

Each frame invites you to imagine its backstory and what’s next.

Awards and Exhibitions

Back in 2019–2020, I took the top spot at the federal level of “The Artful Verb” journalism contest in the “Photo Story” category — twice. The jury really connected with my stories about cultural life in Omsk published on the city’s official portal.

Then in 2020–2021, two times I picked up special prizes for some of my single shots at “The Sights” contest.

Fast‑forward to 2025: one of my photos landed in the Top 4% at the “Cultural Events” contest of the 35Awards.

I’ve also been part of three thematic photo exhibitions by the Omsk branch of the Russian Union of Journalists — for Victory Day and 8 March.
