Today, It’s All About the Snow Maidens!
Get ready for a magical showdown! In the runup to the New Year, Omsk hosted the citywide “Siberian Snow Maiden” competition in the park. Five Snow Maidens — the granddaughters of Father Frost — represented their districts, and it was the audience who chose the winner.
This festival by the Omsk City Department of Culture follows last year’s contest for the best Father Frost, keeping the same fun format. And guess what? The winning Father Frost from December 2023 got a special part in the finale this time around.
Meet the Contestants
As envisioned by the organizers, the Snow Maidens arrive at the creative contest on horse‑drawn sleighs
Only minutes remain until departure
The calm horse gives children rides every day, but today she has a special mission
There is still time to admire the details of the contestants’ lavish costumes
The New Year tree is not lit yet: the honor of turning on the lights will go to the best granddaughter of Father Frost
Each district brought not only its fairy‑tale team but also cheer squads
And now the procession makes its way to the main stage of the park
The place of honor belongs to the Snow Maiden of the Sovetsky District, which won a year ago
The girls greet the people of Omsk and wish everyone a happy New Year
Meanwhile, Anna Eroshenko, a soloist of the “Rus” ensemble, performs on stage
The audience enthusiastically sings New Year songs along with the artist
You can cast your vote for your favorite Snow Maiden using a QR code
Central District
The program of the Central District was prepared by the Lyceum Theater
It is a fairy tale about how Father Frost lost his mitten
Upon learning of the loss, the freezing animals began begging her for it to keep warm
The bear, the wolf, the squirrel, and the mouse — everyone wants to feel its magical warmth
Snow Maiden suggests calling the owner to decide who will get the mitten
For now, the animals have to warm up on their own, playing with the audience
And here comes Father Frost — without that very mitten
He quickly came up with a way to grant the forest creatures’ requests
One wave of his magic staff — and now every animal has a warm mitten!
Oktyabrsky District
Merry snowmen kick off the second performance
Snow Maiden of the Oktyabrsky District is charming and all smiles
Her team, like the others, prepared fun activities for the show’s visitors
The snowmen demonstrate simple dance moves
The audience has to move, sing, and solve riddles
At one point, Snow Maiden makes a video call to Father Frost…
…and then he arrives at the park in person to treat the people of Omsk to tangerines
While a giant tangerine decorates the stage, the guests are given real fruit
A performance in one’s home district is the shortest way to the most loyal audience
Sovetsky District
The fairy‑tale characters from the Sovetsky District seem to have lost their Snow Maiden
That doesn’t stop them from entertaining the crowd, though
Soon, the star of the show turns up after all
At first, her look is ultra‑modern and youthful
The team introduces the city and its New Year events
The interactive part includes a game of oversized “snowballs”
By the end of the program, Snow Maiden turns back into a classic fairy‑tale character
This pleases both the kids near the stage and the characters accompanying her
In today’s fast pace, it’s so important to remember the roots and believe in miracles
Kirovsky District
The fourth contestant, representing the Kirovsky District, performs with a ballet
Their show is multimedia and musical
The karaoke segment highlights key landmarks of Omsk’s left‑bank area
The audience loves this kind of interaction
The Kirovsky team even staged a fun moment where they launched a New Year tree into space!
They were warmly welcomed, and everyone looks forward to meeting again
Leninsky District
The final contest program starts with a wolf who stole the garland
Without thinking, he left the whole fairy‑tale forest without a holiday
Snow Maiden of the Leninsky District will have to sort this out
Luckily, she has helpers who know exactly how to light the bulbs again
The audience’s energy will be a big help too
In the end, the lights are back on, and the New Year mood is restored!
Contest Results
Preliminary voting results clearly show a frontrunner in this competition
You can still cast a vote near the stage — volunteers will be happy to help
While the votes are being counted, the people of Omsk keep having fun and cheering for their districts
The awards ceremony begins
All Snow Maidens receive diplomas from the administration of the 30th Komsomol Park
For each of them, taking part in the contest will surely be a bright highlight of the year
Still, the main excitement of the evening is yet to come
The best Father Frost from last winter appears — the theater actor Ivan Mineev…
…and the presentation of memorable gifts to the contestants continues
And now the winner disappears in the embrace of the main New Year wizard
A second later, the tiara crowns the head of the beauty who won the audience’s hearts
The representative of the Oktyabrsky District is named the best Snow Maiden!
She is the one who gets the honor of lighting the huge park tree
“One, two, three — light up the New Year tree!”
A screen fireworks display and festive music mark the festival’s key moment
All that’s left is to sing the final song
Real fireworks will add even more magic to the evening
This is the first in a series of New Year celebrations organized by the city’s Department of Culture
Everyone by the stage wants a photo with the winning team
After the ceremony, there’s finally time for personal congratulations
Let’s wish the artists unity, creative inspiration, and good luck throughout 2025!
