“Flora‑2023”: The Time Has Chosen Us!
Time is a theme that never runs out of stories — and it resonates deeply with an exhibition celebrating its eighth decade. On August 4, the central public gardens of Omsk bloomed with more than 40 stunning floral art objects. The opening set a festive tone: a large concert brought together talented students and youth ensembles from the city’s cultural centres.
Exhibition in the Morning

This year, each “Flora” composition invites viewers to reflect on the phenomenon of time

Clocks and other symbols of entire eras are everywhere at the exhibition — both obvious and subtle

Even a simple shape like a circle embodies the infinity of the cycle

Traditionally, every corner in the city’s historic center is well‑kept and beautifully decorated

Floral puzzle pieces gently indicate the location of the special children’s playground

Two hearts form the art installation “Time to Love” — many compositions share a similar naming style

One of them is the stunning installation “Time to Learn”, created with natural materials

The theme of education continues with “The Book of Knowledge”, located nearby

Being well‑informed and having a broad outlook is relevant for all generations

“Rays of Knowledge” in every shade of yellow seem to be sent to us from above

Live flowers stretch upward, reaching toward the source of this light

From a distance, the whole scene looks strikingly futuristic
Officials and Delegations

At 10:30 AM, young dancers from the “Alice” studio appear in the Vystavochny Public Garden

A large guided tour of the annual Landscape and Greening Exhibition begins

It is held for the city’s leaders and delegations who arrived for the Omsk Day Celebration

The “Time for Discoveries” area has a special magnetic appeal

Distant planets are a powerful source of inspiration for the florists

Flowers perfectly complement the vivid galactic imagery

Another futuristic installation is called “The Time Portal”

The transition is visualized through the strictness of the form and the elegance of the plants

Next to it stands the philosophical, anthropomorphic art object “Through Time”

“The Tree of Life” is the central and largest figure of the entire exposition

Locals compare it to the giant tree from a famous film

The crown’s diameter is 6 meters; it combines live and artificial flowers

The guided tour for officials ends in Voskresensky Public Garden

Here, the focus is on Stakhanov, a town of Lugansk People’s Republic under the patronage of the Omsk Region

Omsk Mayor Sergei Shelest highly praised the work of the decorators and landscapers
Opening Ceremony

At 4:00 PM, the exhibition officially opened with a grand concert!

Of course, floral imagery is used to the fullest here as well

Both the audience and the honored guests applaud the young performers’ skill

City art schools train dancers in a wide range of styles

Timeless classics fit perfectly with a flower exhibition that has long‑standing traditions

A ray of sunlight highlights the performer’s expressive grace

Speaking from the stage, Mayor Sergei Shelest acknowledged the hard work of every creator behind “Flora”

Students, schoolchildren, local businesses, and the Urban Improvement Department all contributed their part

City Council Speaker Vladimir Korbut wished Omsk to remain beautiful in the years ahead

The concert is floral in every sense — and it keeps going

Dance numbers alternate with vocal performances

Yet there’s perhaps a little more choreography, thanks to its visual impact

Overall, the entire concert is a true kaleidoscope of costumes, ages, and emotions

The artists give it their all — it’s not every day they get to perform on such a stage

Happy upcoming birthday, beloved city!
Exhibition in the Evening

After the concert, visitors are invited to see the exhibition itself, held under the motto “The Time Has Chosen Us”

At Vystavochny Public Garden, the “Time Machine” is ready to whisk guests away

Frozen music is present here too — for example, in the “Time to Create” composition

Beloved by Omsk residents, floral photo zones are placed throughout the area

Many of the artificial flowers are indistinguishable from real ones

It’s so easy (and, most importantly, so beautiful!) to become a butterfly, if only for a moment

The “Girl‑Theater” composition invites thoughtful contemplation

This image is full of small, intriguing details

The details don’t give direct answers: everyone is free to find their own meanings here

Meanwhile, “Forest Glade” is quite simple and ironic, yet no less elegant

Right next to it is a charming arch, perfect for colorful photos

A little farther on, “Mother Nature” once again touches on deep, worldview‑shaping themes

The silhouette of a floral Omsk emerges from the pages of a book

The installation “The Beautiful in the Eternal” speaks about art

And, as we all know, art appeals to every age!

We’ve already met “The Tree of Life” — and it’s impossible to miss it on your walk

The happiest, most delighted selfies are taken right here

The changing position of the sun in the sky adds a touch of mystique to the tree

Queues form at all interactive art objects for photo sessions

But “The River of Life” is one of those meant to be admired only from the alley

Let’s remember this unreal color and head to Voskresensky Public Garden

In Voskresensky Public Garden, you can spot the “Time to Love” moment right from the street

There are also plenty of animal‑themed compositions here

One of them has the telling name “Time of the Very First”

The dominant feature of the square near the chapel is the allegorical art object “Time for Change”

It seems all the photos have been taken, and friends have already picked their favorites

As a farewell, let’s take one last look at the exhibition — so we’ll want to come back… when it gets dark!
